Plantoost Class Review: Build Your Own Blue Apron Clone

As many of you probably already know, building a website these days on the World Wide Web goes beyond passing data and files across endpoints. How we interact with friends, coworkers, government, and how we shop or even sell our items, matter a great deal.

The internet has had a huge impact on numerous industries like publishing, arts, education, entertainment, marketing, and commerce to say a few. With this kind of impact, it’s important for one to know about how things work, and that includes knowing how to build applications.

The builders, also known as web developers, often code and build a prototype of a website to help clients understand what the finished product will be and maintain the website if necessary. Web developers also need an amalgamation of technical computer and graphic design skills that will allow them to design their web pages.

These days, most employers look for people with something other than just a limited understanding of the web and how it works. With the ever-growing number of online coding courses, it’s increasingly becoming difficult for students of web development like me to find the right resources, let alone courses.

I love learning and for most of my life, I learned by reading books but ever since I came across online courses on Udemy, I stopped reading books altogether and relied on good online courses instead. Online coding classes are hands down the best way forward for anyone who wants to learn how to code at the fastest time possible.

So far, ever since I started doing my research, I found a bunch of things I would like to recommend for everyone, things like learning about the cloud and how you can build your own food delivery app like Blue Apron or UberEats.

And somewhere in my journey, I found this amazing course. Throughout this post, I will be reviewing Build Your Own Meal Kit Delivery Web App, which aims to teach you how to develop a subscription-based food delivery app, just like the startup founders who did it.

 Course Overview

This course takes a hands-on approach to training the learner on every topic it tackles. For every course section, the instructor, Shawn Ng, takes time to actually show step-by-step instructions so that the user can learn how to do it without jumping around and not going anywhere.

He has laid out the course in an easy-to-follow format, and all of the lessons include video transcripts that are very well detailed. The very nature of Plantoost (video lessons) makes it easy to grasp concepts easily and makes people with zero background in programming.

I’m able to hop into the lessons and follow along without feeling like a deer in the headlights. There are certainly parts where you’ll have to pause the video to catch up, but again, that’s just the nature of video lessons. We all have different typing speeds, and it would be awkward for Shawn to pause for 10 seconds every time he types a line of code. Shawn gets straight to the point, and doesn’t waste your time like some other instructors out there.

Should I Buy This Course?

I highly recommend you take Shawn Ng’s Build Your Own Meal Kit Delivery Web App: Rails + Stripe course. Apart from doing the work on page layouts like headings and paragraphs, website styling like colors and fonts, and other features like pictures and videos, the course also teaches about submitting online payments securely and creating membership plans. It covers the fundamentals plus the advanced things you need to master if you want to build a real app like the real startups.
